Dear football fans,

The big tournament is coming up again, and your settlers are getting in the football mood. Will your players be ready when the Summer Event is kicking off? It will feature a new quest chain, a new explorer, and several new buildings.

New aspects & changes are highlighted in blue color.

Event Start: Monday, 21st of June ~ 10:00 CEST
Start of removal phase: 12th of July, ~ 10:00 CEST
Complete deactivation: 19th of July, ~ 10:00 CEST
Level requirement: 16+

If your level is below 16, you will receive a quest tasking you to reach level 16. So hurry up, you surely don't want to miss out on all the fun!

Explorer will only bring back event currency if they return BEFORE the Removal Phase starts. In rare cases, explorers might bring back resources when sent before the Removal Phase and returning during the Removal Phase. Please also have in mind that the same behavior is present at the start of the event. Explorers will only bring back Event Currency if sent after Event Start. In rare cases, explorers might bring back resources when directly sent before the event starts, and returning after the event started!

The event resource is called Footballs. They can be traded and are listed in the Storehouse (Event tab) as usual.<br>

New to 2021 is a brand new quest chain: "Invasive Species", which will see you defending your home island against non-native creatures which threaten the ecosystem you so sorely depend on. At Level 26, you will be notified that a cargo vessel doing trade on your island has brought with it a selection of unwanted passengers: highly invasive critters who pose a very real danger if left unchecked. Thankfully, you have a team of experts on hand with a wealth of experience with these pesky faunas.<br>

To complete the main quest chain, you will need to tackle each invasive species individually in a set of sub-quests. Make sure you pay attention to their names, descriptions, apparent weaknesses! Sometime after the event launches, we'll be asking the community to draw their own renditions of what these creatures look like, with prizes for the best ones. Keep an eye on our usual channels for more information in the near future!<br>

In 2018 we introduced the quest chain A Host of Responsibilities, which starts at level 22 or above. It deals with the costs and responsibilities of hosting tournament matches on your island. The rewards focus on coins, a stacking population growth buff (that is immediately applied; it doesn't go to the star menu), and a big reward for completing the whole chain. The new quest chain's sub-quests unlock after a certain number of days after your first login during the event, and not the event start.<br>
<br>
For the first 15 days of the event, a new quest in this chain will be unlocked and starts if or when you have finished the preceding one. For example, if you don't finish the first quest until the third day, then you will get the second quest immediately upon completing it, followed by the third quest after the second one is done. If you then complete the third quest on day three, you will still not receive the fourth quest until the fourth day of the event. The daily time during which a new quest is unlocked should match the first time that you logged in during the event.

A tournament quest chain will guide you through the mechanics of the event, regarding collecting tactical resources, production of tactics buffs, and their use in the event scenarios. The quest chain is linked to the Fixture List, as the quests will often ask you to open certain doors. <br>

3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOORS<br>

There is a total of 21 doors. You can open one door each day. Opening missed doors for gems has been increased to 100 gems for normal doors and 300 gems for special doors due to a much higher value in the calendar. This year we've also overhauled the Event Calendar to reward fresh new items to make it more exciting!<br>

Don't forget to open the doors daily and also remind your friends to do so!<br>

The event will be deactivated in 2 steps. As known from previous events, most of the features will not be available anymore during the Removal phase. The deactivation will then be conducted 1 week later.

Event adventures are being canceled

We have made the following adjustments/clarifications:


The Adventurous Explorer is not available for Footballs on her own but is available via the "Summer Booster" Bundle for Footballs.
The Swan Boat's in-game description incorrectly states "150 Population" - however once purchased it will provide the correct 210 Population.
The Capacious Warehouse in-game is actually located in the Architect Category for Gems, not the Event Category.



Additionally, we're aware that players were not able to successfully run the "Practice Match" adventure awarded from the first Calendar Door. Therefore we will be sending all eligible players the "Practice Match" adventure soon - keep an eye on your in-game mails!
